Celebrate this milestone with a fun, vibrant photoshoot filled with personality and lots of frosting!

A cake smash photo shoot or as I like to refer to it as “boutique 1st birthday photography” is a joyful way to celebrate your little one’s first year. You can bring along cake or even their favourite food and let them enjoy some yummy messy play, while I capture every cheeky moment.

Your Session, Your Style

Before the shoot, I’ll ask you to pick a theme that’s meaningful or fun.

Your chosen theme could be a colour scheme, favourite toy or character, or even something that was special to you in your own childhood.

I’ll take care of the set design, building a custom backdrop in my Surrey-based studio that brings your idea to life. I absolutely love this part!

Please note: The cake is not supplied in the session to avoid allergies, we ask that you bring the cake or your child’s favourite food if you’s prefer.

When to book?

The ideal time to schedule your cake smash session is 3–4 weeks before your baby’s birthday or party, so you have time to use the photos for invitations, thank you cards, or create a photo book for your baby’s first year.

Cake smashes aren’t just for one year olds, they can be used to celebrate any birthday. I myself did one for my 30th birthday and had great fun and love the photos!

Frequently Asked Questions

Cake Smash Questions

2–3 weeks before baby's birthday. That way you can use them for decorations, invites, or thank you cards.
No, you can bring along baby's favourite food…for example watermelon, avocados, or pasta. If you wanted a clean session with no food, that’s absolutely fine. We can focus on outfits and favourite toys.
You can have any theme you’d like as long as you book in with plenty of time before the session. I always welcome some Pinterest board inspiration. Otherwise, if it’s a last-minute booking it can be a choice of any theme I’ve created in the past (which is still a large selection to choose from).
Yes, I always ask for the price of the session to be paid upfront as a deposit to hold your session date and time. This is a non-refundable deposit. Understandably, children fall unwell which I completely understand. All I ask is you give me as much notice as you can if you do need to reschedule.
